South Congaree, SC – Shane Williamson, a longtime employee of the SC Department of Transportation, is set to be promoted to the drainage supervisor of a large portion of the county’s southern roads in December of 2016. He is a native of the South Congaree area that grew up off of Church Street just south of the town.
Williamson has always enjoyed working with the DOT and serving the public. A number of years ago, he was a volunteer firefighter at the South Congaree fire station and was involved in many community projects including the Congaree Western Weekend Rodeo and Festival.
Williamson is an avid outdoors-man that enjoys hunting and fishing. He and his wife have school aged children that he has introduced to the outdoors at a very young age.
Williamson says that he plans to catch up on some lingering drainage issues during his first year in his new position. Once those have been taken care of, he will keep a watchful eye on those issues while quickly addressing any new problems that might arise.
Williamson’s intimate knowledge of the southern portion of the county makes him uniquely suited to handle this job. The DOT drainage crew helps to ensure that our roads ditches remain clean and unobstructed so that storm water can quickly run off. This helps to keep our roads safe when it rains and storms.
