Coroner releases the name of the individual killed in a car accident Monday morning on Airport Blvd.
Lexington, SC - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has released the identity of the person pronounced dead in the early morning accident involving three vehicles on Airport Blvd. on September 26, 2016 at approximately 7:00 A.M.
Coroner Fisher states that George Monroe Smith, 64, of West Columbia was traveling in the 2200 block of Airport Blvd near Stratford Road when his car left the roadway on the right side and struck two legally parked and unoccupied vehicles, then overturned. Mr. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
Autopsy performed on September 26, 2016 showed Mr. Smith died of a medical event unrelated to the accident.
Mr. Smith was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. The Lexington County Coroner's Office and Cayce Police Department continue to investigate.
