GILBERT, S.C. — Students at Gilbert Primary are taking global thinking to a new level this year by joining a project benefitting children in Guatemala.
GPS is holding a “Pennies for Books Beyond our Borders” drive in conjunction with its Global Read Aloud. Funds raised will be donated to the Palms and Souls nonprofit organization, which is building a library in the community center at Jocotenango, Guatemala.
Pennies will be collected through Friday, November 11, 2016.
GPS administrators say teaching their students to care for others is a life skill that will serve them well. The organization is sending the school photos and profiles of children who will be directly affected.
Through those profiles, students will learn a little about the children they are helping and what interests they have. GPS students also will help match and select books to be donated to the children in Guatemala.
Please join GPS in this worthy project as students grow, learn, and lead … together (globally)!
