Animal Cruelty Incident Investigation Continues

November 1, 2016

Lexington, S.C. (November 1, 2016) – The Lexington Police Department and the County of Lexington Animal Control are seeking the public’s assistance in an ongoing animal cruelty investigation.

On October 16, 2016, the Lexington Police Department was notified through social media of a possible animal cruelty incident that occurred at the Cedarcrest Village Apartments located in the Town of Lexington.  The information shared to the Lexington Police Department Facebook page included several photographs and a video showing a small white dog being kicked by an individual several times and then picked up and thrown down the stairs of the apartment complex.

Officers of the Lexington Police Department responded to the apartment complex and were able to locate the dog and its owner.  County of Lexington Animal Control was contacted and responded to assist with the investigation.  During the investigation officers obtained a search warrant and gained custody of the animal.  County of Lexington Animal Control will hold the dog until the completion of this investigation and all court rulings.

On October 28, 2016, County of Lexington Animal Control issued Timothy Mister a summons for “Maltreatment of an Animal” for not seeking treatment for his dog by a veterinarian after being notified of the animal abuse during this investigation.

The Lexington Police Department and County of Lexington Animal Control are actively seeking information regarding who committed these acts of animal cruelty.  Anyone having information on the identity of this person or crime, are urged to contact the Lexington Police Department at 803-359-6260, their local law enforcement agency or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME SC.
