Boiling Springs, SC (Paul Kirby) – A tractor trailer fire completely closed the east bound lanes of I-20 near the 46-mile marker Monday morning just after the peak commute hours. Fire fighters were dispatched to the call and responded just before 8:30 a.m.
When the first fire service units arrived on the scene, they found a tractor trailer truck that was carrying a number of cars on fire. The firefighters closed both of the east lanes of the interstate to protect the crews that made the fire attack.
Besides the equipment that was originally dispatched, firefighters requested the response of a tanker truck to bring additional water to the scene. Law enforcement officers also responded to assist with the traffic until the fire was out.
Several of the cars on the trailer were destroyed by the fire. The truck was also damaged.
The exact cause of the blaze has not been released.
