Power outage after wreck causes traffic concerns on Knox Abbott Drive

November 29, 2016

Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) – An early morning car crash in the Cayce area Tuesday morning has knocked out power along Knox Abbott Drive in the city. An SCE&G power pole was damaged as a result of this incident. This has made many of the traffic signals along that key corridor for commuting to Columbia inoperative.

According to one of the city’s 911 tele-communicators, there are Cayce Department of Public Safety officers at intersections near 12th Street, 9th Street, and other key intersections to handle traffic issues that may arise because of the signals being out. They are directing the traffic but motorist should expect delays and add some extra time for the commute until the power is being restored. It might be wise to take an alternate route if possible.

SCE&G is reporting that just over 60 customers are currently without power. They think that the power should be restored sometime around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
