Lexington County Fire Service responds to a house fire in Red Bank Monday morning

Red Bank, SC (Paul Kirby) – Fire crews from Lexington County responded to a house fire on Sage Tree Ct. in The Garden Pond subdivision Monday morning. Garden Pond is off Old Barnwell Rd. near the intersection of Old Orangeburg Rd. in the Red Bank area.

The call regarding the fire came into the 911 center at 7:21 a.m. Telecommunication operators dispatched fire equipment from county fire stations in Red Bank, Pine Grove, Oak Grove, and Lexington. They also had an EMS unit respond to ensure the safety of the citizens and firefighters that were on the scene.

First arriving fire service personnel found fire in the rear of the single-family home. They pulled hoses and attacked the fire knocking the flames down quickly.

After the fire was initially extinguished, the crews checked to make sure that the fire had not extended to other parts of the home. They also used mechanical fans to remove smoke from the structure.

According to Harrison Cayhill, spokesman for Lexington County, the fire was believed to have started on or near rear porch of home in the area of an electrical outlet. No one was injured as a result of the fire.

No estimates on the damages to the home were released.
