West Columbia Police Department looking for suspect that fled area after shooting

West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) – Officers from the West Columbia Police Department spent much of Monday afternoon searching for a man they believed was involved in a shooting at a business on Augusta Road Monday afternoon. According to West Columbia Assistant Police Chief Scott Morrison, the shooting happened around 3:00 p.m. in the parking lot of Carolina Pottery and the Habitat for Humanity Restore. This is directly across from Lowe’s and close to the intersection of Augusta Rd. (US Hwy. 1) and I-26. One person was injured in the shooting incident. That person was transported to the hospital by crews from Lexington County’s EMS. The condition of the person who was shot has not been released at this time. Chief Morrison said that his department is seeking a white male that is believed to be dressed in all black. No further description has been given. Police said by Twitter post Monday evening that they don't believe the suspect remains in the area where the shooting took place. They are following leads and have expanded their search for the suspect based on that investigation. If anyone has information that might help the police identify or find the suspected shooter, they are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-Crime SC. You may be eligible for a reward and you do not have to reveal your identity.
