Lexington, SC - The Lexington School District Two Board and Administration hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Lexington Two CATE (career and technology) Center, Thursday(March 2.) It is being built on Bulldog Boulevard (off of 12th Street Extension) in Cayce.
District Board Chairwoman Linda Alford-Wooten said the new facility will be one of the premier learning centers in the state and the nation. She also said the center - off of 12th Street Extension- is in an industrial corridor and that will allow for students to partner with the many businesses in the vicinity.
The CATE facility will include space for automotive technology; welding; cosmetology; horticulture, culinary arts; and many other training skills for the career-oriented student. It will also have a meeting space with a stage and theater seating.
The building will be highly visible from 12th Street Extension. The CATE center will be beside District Two’s new Cayce Elementary School, on the site where Busbee Creative Arts Academy is.
The CATE center is being built with funds from the $225 million bond referendum passed by Lexington Two voters in November of 2014.
