WKMS robotics team qualifies for state


WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. — Middle and high school students from across the state descended on White Knoll Middle on Saturday, February 11, 2017, for the VEX Robotics Competition War Hawk Qualifier.

Twenty-six teams came together for a nonstop, action-packed day of competition, battling against each other with robots created from VEX EDR. Participants squared off in the VEX Robotics Competition Starstruck.

The WKMS boys team, “VEXcellent,” won the Middle School Design Award, qualifying them for the S.C. Palmetto Partners VEX Robotics Competition State Championship on March 11. Team members include Thomas Patrick Solway, Rylan Chec Campbell, Domonic Howell Busbee, Alexander Robert Lyon and Colin Wayne Marshall.

Also participating at the War Hawk Qualifier, the WKMS girls team, “Syntax Error,” won the Judges Award. Team members include Tyandria Ajuah Dixon, Kennedi Aliese Stoudemire, Camryn Alexis Vela, Isabella Grace Bagby, Sanskruti Robin Patel, Yashvi Rohitkumar Patel and Prableen Kaur.

The WKMS robotics teams are under the direction of Alan Lominick.
