Fire destroys large shed near Lexington High School Saturday morning

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) A large shed was deemed a total loss after it caught fire and burned on Saturday. The fire occurred on Olde Farm Road close to Richmond Farm Circle south of Lexington High School.

The fire call was dispatched before daybreak. Firefighters from Lake Murray, Round Hill, Lexington, and Gilbert stations responded. Before arriving on the scene, they reported seeing heavy smoke against the night sky.

The crew of the first due truck reported that the shed was fully involved. The battalion chief out of Lexington arrived within moments of the first truck and described the building as a 30’ x 30’ shed. He also reported a small brush fire burning as well.

The firefighters established a water supply from a nearby fire hydrant and quickly brought the fire under control. It took some more time for the crews to finish wetting the smoldering remains of the building and picking up their hoses and equipment.

The cause of the fire and monetary estimates of the loss of the building have not been released.
