Red Bank man missing after beginning a short walk home

April 21, 2017

Red Bank, SC (Paul Kirby) – A Red Bank area man is missing after he left a friend’s home for a short walk home. He has been missing since Thursday night, his family is extremely worried, and is asking for the community's help to locate him.

Kevin Wessinger is described as white male who is approximately 5’ 10” tall. He weighs about 200 lbs. He has a goatee, a shaved head, and was wearing tan shorts, and a tie-dyed t-shirt when he was last seen. He also had bright, fluorescent green shoe laces in his shoes.

Wednesday night, Wessinger was believed to have walked to the ABC store by The Village Store on Platt Springs Road to buy something to drink. He then walked over to a friend’s home on Wilma Anne Drive where he stayed until after 11:00 p.m.

Shortly before midnight, he talked with his wife by telephone, and told her that he was tired and was heading home to go to bed. His friend, who was contacted by phone Thursday morning, confirmed that Wessinger left his home shortly after that conversation and he saw him walk into a wooded trail that cuts across to Sandy Springs Lane, the road that Wessinger’s home is on, and where his wife was. Wessinger’s wife went to bed and fell asleep believing that he would come in after a short time and go to bed also.

On Thursday morning, Wessinger’s wife found that he had never made it home. She called the friend and then checked the trail that Wessinger always uses and the woods surrounding it. She also called everyone else that she thought might know where he was. When she was unable to locate him, she notified the sheriff’s department who came and took a missing person’s report.

Kimber Wessinger, Kevin’s wife, said that he has never simply disappeared for lengths of time before. She has a good relationship with him and there was no reason why he wouldn’t have come home as he said that he was. The walk should have taken a very short time and he and friends used the wooded path on a daily basis.

If you know where Kevin Wessinger is, saw anything out of the ordinary in the area, or you have information that may help law enforcement, and his family locate him, please call the sheriff’s department at (803) 785-8230.

Kimber Wessinger would like everyone to know that she is worried, not angry with her husband. She would like anyone who knows anything about where he might be to also call her after they have notified the sheriff’s office at (803) 422-1151.
