Irmo Fire District has to extricate victim of crash on Berryhill Road Sunday night

St. Andrews, SC (Paul Kirby) Irmo firefighters used hydraulic extrication tools to cut a patient from the twisted wreck of his vehicle after it crashed around 9:30 p.m.Sunday. The crash happened in the 200 block of Berryhill Road near the I-20, I-26 cloverleaf intersection.

Firefighters arrived quickly and first reported that they had a patient with serious injuries entrapped in the wreckage. They deployed their extrication equipment and cut and pried the patient free within a short time. The injured patient was then turned over to EMS for transport to the hospital.

The condition of the patient was not known as of Monday morning. The SCHP has not released the cause of the crash.
