Pelion, SC (Angelica Iglesias) – The three 10-megawatt solar energy farms in Pelion, SC have begun construction. The plan is being developed and operated by Odyssey Solar, LLC along with financing partner Cypress Creek Renewables.
All three farms will be located off Old Charleston Road in Pelion. One 10-megawatt solar farm is enough to provide inexpensive, clean energy to approximately 2,000 South Carolina homes bringing the total number of homes with clean energy to 6,000.
Cypress Creek Renewables, a company based in Santa Monica, CA that specializes in the ownership and development of long-term solar energy projects, is investing $30 million into the three solar energy facilities. This project complements two solar farms also in Lexington County located in Swansea, which the company announced in August 2015 and invested $20.4 million.
Central SC Alliance Chairman Michael R. Brenan had positive things to say about Cypress Creek Renewables and their continued investment in South Carolina. “It’s exciting to see a company once again decide to expand operations within the Central S.C. Region. Cypress Creek Renewables’ continuous growth in the region and the state are a testament to the economic strength and value that businesses find here. Their investment and commitment to clean renewable energy means a brighter future for this community.”
