Blowfish slip as Banana's hand them their third straight loss of sputtering season start
SAVANNAH, GA. -- Last season, the Blowfish spoiled the Banana's inaugural home opener at Grayson Stadium. Tonight Savannah took their frustrations and an 0-2 start out on the Blowfish in a huge seventh inning explosion. Lexington County fell on the road to the Bananas by the final of 11-2 and dropped their third straight game to begin the 2017 season. The Blowfish, as they have their first two games before, jumped out to an early lead in the second after Savannah gave the Fish an extra out. Chase Teter (Morehead State) took advantage and knocked an RBI single that drove in Cole Perry (University of Tampa) to give Lexington County the early 1-0 lead. Savannah responded in the third plating two in the inning off of Connor Thomas (Georgia Tech) who made his first appearance for Lexington County. Logan Mattix (Georgia College) clocked an RBI single in the third which was followed by a Garry Mattis (Florida Atlantic University) fielders choice that brought in a run. Jabari Richards (Furman) retied the game for Lexington County in the top of the fourth on a fielders choice that brought home Jake Bublitz (Morehead State). The Bananas would strike right back in the home half of the fourth Tonight, Lexington County comes back home to the Lexington to welcome in the Forest City Owls for the fist time. Perhaps a home crowd in the stands can pull them out of their slump, and put them on the road to their first victory.
