Cayce, SC (Angelica Iglesias) – Brain Freeze Italian Ice opened in Cayce, Friday, June 2. It is located at 906 Knox Abbott Drive.
Mayor of Cayce Elise Partin, Greater Cayce West Columbia Chamber of Commerce president Gregg Pinner, chair-elect of the Chamber Dondee Lewis, and past chair Vaughan Dozier all attended the ribbon cutting ceremony that was held from 10:30 am to 11:00 am. Mayor Partin spoke at the event with encouraging words.
Brain Freeze has much more than just Italian ice. They have ice cream, cotton candy, fresh baked cookies, kettle corn, milkshakes and more. They also used to be mobile only, so they have a food truck for catering and events around the community.
Married couple Kia and Eric Usher have been doing the mobile side of the business for about two years. They loved it so much and noticed that Cayce did not have an ice cream store. They found the location on Knox Abbott in the heart of Cayce and could not help but jump on the opportunity, so they each left their jobs to pursue their passion of sweets.
Kia was a banker and Eric worked for Time Warner. When they went to Spectrum, he was expected to have to make a move, which he was not interested in. With that and the perfect location opening up, it seemed like the perfect time to make the transition from food truck to store front.
