Redwolves rip Blowfish 10-1

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. -- The Blowfish ended one streak two nights ago in Savannah after they won their first game of the 2017 season at Grayson Stadium over Savannah. However, Florence didn’t let the Blowfish taste that winning feeling past one game as they drubbed Lexington County 10-1 Saturday night. Lexington County loaded the bases in the third and broke the ice on an RBI bases loaded walk to Clark Solcamiero (North Greenville University). But the Blowfish went quietly most of the night only mustering three hits and nothing more than the bases loaded walk in the third. Florence had troubles at the plate most of the night but capitalized when they needed it most taking the lead in the fifth on two runs aided by two errors from Lexington County. The Blowfish were in the game up into the eighth inning but gave up seven runs in the eighth, which all but put the game out of reach. Zach Jacobs (Francis Marion University) launched a three run home run over the right field wall at the Lex in the eighth that put the game away and gave Lexington County their ninth loss of the season. Connor Thomas was handed the loss in the ballgame and John Michael Stephens got his first win of 2017. Florence improved to 9-0 their best start in organization history. The Blowfish have the night off tomorrow and will come back on Monday to take on Gastonia at Sims Legion Park to get back in the win column. First pitch is slated for 7:17 and pregame on z93.1-FM The Lake will be set for 7:00 from Gastonia.
