IRMO – Lexington-Richland School District Five is partnering with the District Five Foundation and Walmart to help local families in need.
The annual Stuff-A-Bus campaign is using this year’s efforts to provide food for District Five families. Item collection will take place at both the Ballentine and Harbsion Walmart locations. The eventt will take place from Friday, August 4, 2017 through Sunday, August 6, 2017.
Food items being collected are: Ramen noodles, canned pasta, instant macaroni & cheese, canned tuna, canned chicken, Vienna sausages, canned soup, mini cereal boxes, Grits packets, oatmeal packets, applesauce cups, fruit cups, vegetable cups, Slim Jims, granola bars, individual crackers packs, fruit snacks, Rice Krispies treats and juice boxes.
The food items will be used for the District’s Snack Pack Program. Every Friday during the school year more than 700 students are provided a “snack pack” with basic food items to take home. This ensures these students will have essential nutrition over the weekend.
Katrina Goggins, the District’s Director of Communications, said, “We are excited to partner with the District Five Foundation, Walmart and our community to serve our families in need. This has been a great community effort in the past and we are grateful for any support they can provide for our families this year.”
