South Congaree, S.C. (James Bowers) - Dunn’s Chapel in South Congaree welcomes community members to a screening of the movie Faith’s Song on Friday, August 18th. Festivities will begin with a hot dog supper at 5:30 pm, followed by the screening at 6:30 pm.
Families attending the event will also receive a free Faith’s Song mini-poster and a DVD copy of the film. Also on hand will be director Frankie Hutto, CEO of Northface Christian Films, the company responsible for Faith’s Song. There will also be several members of the film’s cast and crew on hand. Hutto and other cast members will meet with fans and sign autographs during the event.
The movie, released in January, 2017 and shot largely in the Lexington, SC area, centers on the story of a teenage girl named Faith whose parents perished in an auto accident. The devoutly Christian Faith is sent to live with non-believing relatives in a different city. The ostracism she faces from these family members and classmates at her school tests her beliefs in a major way. Others, however, encourage her to stick to her Christian faith, including a classmate who sees the best in her.
Marcus Lattimore, beloved former University South Carolina football player, makes a cameo appearance. Hayden McCoy and George Dinsmore are among the film’s stars. The 103-minute drama was co-written by Hutto and Dustin Wieble. Faith’s Song received the 2017 Best Feature Film award at the Christian Film Festival and was also selected for the Kingdomwood International Film Festival.
Robert Spires, a minister with Dunn’s Chapel, says that the intent of the church’s movie nights is to create a sense of community, and not necessarily to promote one religion over the other. Dunn’s also had a movie night in April, with a showing of the film “Do You Believe”, which Spires said was received positively.
Dunn’s Chapel is located on 281 Chapel Road in South Congaree. For more information, visit the church’s website at www.dunnschapel.com.
