County of Lexington to Host a Public Meeting for Citizens to Review the County’s Draft Flood Mitigat
Lexington, SC - The County of Lexington will host a public meeting to review the County’s draft Flood Mitigation Plan on Thursday, August 17, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Eli Mack Room at the Town of Lexington Municipal Complex, located at 111 Maiden Lane, Lexington, SC 29072.
Following a survey in which the County solicited citizens’ opinions regarding flooding issues in the unincorporated parts of the County, the draft plan was created, aimed to improve the County’s resistance to future flooding events.
The plan also identifies potential funding to assist property owners in mitigation efforts, such as elevating or removing homes, and serves as a planning tool in securing funds and support to address flood issues in the County’s unincorporated communities.
Citizens interested in meeting with County officials at Thursday’s meeting can review the plan prior to the meeting at the following link:
The development of the plan was funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s National Flood Insurance Program, of which the County is a member, as well as a contribution from the County.
Citizens seeking more information regarding the plan, or the meeting, are asked to contact the Lexington County Floodplain Manager at (803) 785-8121.
