Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) A man was trapped in a vehicle for a short while Tuesday afternoon after he was involved in a wreck at Rawl Road near Ballpark Road just west of Lexington. The call to the county’s 911 center regarding the crash came in a few moments after 5:00 p.m. Ironically, that center, the headquarters of Lexington County’s fire and EMS service, and many of the other county offices are within proximity of the location where the crash occurred.
The first arriving fire unit realized that the man was trapped in the crumpled vehicle and that truck’s senior member requested that another engine respond with extrication tools to assist. The EMS crew treated the patient, and within a short time, the firefighters had freed the man. Law enforcement officer also responded to direct traffic and to investigate the accident.
We do not receive or release information on a patient’s condition after they have been transported to a medical center. That type of information is protected by Federal privacy laws.
The SCHP has not released the cause of the accident or who was at fault.
