Driver who closed down I-20 and killed his passenger in Saturday accident, now charged with felony D

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – The driver of a vehicle who was driving recklessly Saturday while passing vehicles in a closed lane on I-20 near the 60 mile marker east, has now been charged with felony DUI. The crash he caused not only closed the eastbound lanes of I-20, but also killed his traveling companion who was thrown from the vehicle when it rolled over. That young man died at the scene of the wreck.
SC State Troopers say that Marshall Brandon McFarland was driving in the emergency lane while attempting to pass other vehicles on Interstate 20 near the 60 mm Saturday evening when he dropped off the road, lost control of his vehicle, and flipped several times.
McFarland's passenger, Wyatt Dakota Duval, 21, of Lugoff was not restrained in the vehicle and was thrown from it as it rolled.Duval died at the scene.
McFarland was transported to a local hospital after the crash Saturday. He was released early Tuesday and was taken to the Lexington County Detention Center Tuesday morning. He was still in the jail Tuesday afternoon awaiting a bond hearing on the charges.
According to the LCDC’s website, McFarland has been charged with felony DUI, driving under suspension, and transporting alcohol with seal broken.
