Lexington, S.C. (September 5, 2017) – The Lexington Police Department will begin fundraising efforts with three days of “Cops On The Coop” events to benefit Special Olympics athletics at Chick-fil-A Saluda Pointe starting Wednesday, September 6, 2017 and continuing through Friday, September 8, 2017.
Officers and Volunteers In Police Services (V.I.P.S.) will be at Chick-fil-A Saluda Pointe which is located at 4295 Sunset Blvd. from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. each day of the “Cops On The Coop” events.
During “Cops On The Coop”, officers and V.I.P.S. will be collecting donations of cash, check, or credit card, both inside the store and in the drive thru lane area. Chick-fil-A will be giving away complimentary treat or sandwich cards to use at a later visit depending on the amount of the donation given.
All money donated will be given to the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics to directly support the over 25,000 Special Olympics athletes in South Carolina.
Chief Terrence Green said, “The Lexington Police Department has had a longstanding relationship with Special Olympics South Carolina and the Law Enforcement Torch Run and I am excited about this new partnership with Chick-fil-A Saluda Pointe with “Cops On The Coop”. I have high hopes that the Town of Lexington community will come out and help our officers in generously supporting the many Special Olympics athletes in South Carolina with a donation."
