Temporary school lock out lifted at RBHS

September 15, 2017

LEXINGTON, S.C. — At about 12:30 p.m. today, September 15, 2017, River Bluff High School went in to lock out at the request of the Town of Lexington Police Department. That lock out has been lifted, and things are back to normal.

During a lock out, a school does not allow anyone in or out of the building. However, inside the building, school goes on normally.

Law enforcement often asks schools to do this as a precaution when they are investigating something in the area.

Today, administrators locked every door to the outside of every building with all employees and students safely locked inside. Students knew that they were in lock out, but they also knew they were safe and comfortable in classrooms.

In addition, four officers from the Town of Lexington Police Department stayed at the school while the lockout was in place.

Lexington County School District One’s primary concern is always the health and safety of our staff and students. However, our facilities are just like the rest of the world. From time to time, something out of the ordinary happens. This was one of those days.
