Kohls strong armed robbery suspect captured

Lexington, S.C. (September 28, 2017) – Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green said Thursday evening that Veronica Latrice Bailey has been arrested for a strong arm robbery that occurred at Kohls in the Town of Lexington over the weekend.

On Saturday, September 23, 2017, a loss prevention associate for Kohls observed Veronica Latrice Bailey, age 32 of Winnsboro, South Carolina, select numerous items of children’s clothing and walk into a fitting room. The loss prevention associate could hear Veronica Bailey removing tags from the clothing and when exiting the fitting room noticed that her purse was visibly larger than before. The loss prevention associate was familiar with Veronica Bailey as she had been involved in numerous past shoplifting incidents at Kohls.

As Veronica Bailey was walking out of the store, the loss prevention associate asked her to return the merchandise. Veronica Bailey turned around while standing in the parking lot and pepper sprayed the loss prevention associate in her face. As the loss prevention associate was attempting to get the license plate number of the vehicle that Veronica Bailey was getting into to leave, she turned around and pepper sprayed the loss prevention associate again in the face.

Chief Terrence Green said, “Detectives of the Lexington Police Department have been working on locating Veronica Bailey since this incident occurred and we greatly appreciate the hard work of the Fairfield County Probation, Pardon & Parole, the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Department and the Columbia Police Department in assisting with this arrest.”

Veronica Bailey is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center with a bond of $20,000 for the Strong Arm Robbery.
