Scooter Scott Project putting on Dixiana Community Health
Dixiana, SC (Angelica Iglesias) – The Scooter Scott Project is putting on the Dixiana Community Health Fair October 21, 2017 from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm at Dixiana Baptist Church located at 3516 Charleston Hwy.
The event is planning to have blood pressure checks, blood sugar checks, pulse level checks, etc. They will even have someone doing vision screenings. They will be hosting a number of games and activities for all ages and plan on having plenty of food. Other churches will be helping and participating as well. It will be a great way to check up on your health and enjoy a family-friendly event.
Scooter Scott was the director of the Nehemiah Project which is a part of Christ Central Ministries. After he passed away from cancer in 2015, the project was named after him. He served voluntarily at several churches in the Lexington area and worked tirelessly to help the lives of so many young people. He started the project by organizing pre-game meals for the Airport High School football team. Then, he started an after-school program that focused on students at risk of dropping out or failing which turned into the Nehemiah Project.
According to the project’s Facebook page, they are a “faith-based organization helping kids in middle and high school become future leaders of tomorrow.” They understand that 90 percent of their students live in poverty, so they offer scholarships and free Christ-centered events.
