Dutch Fork Trounces Lexington, 29-7

October 8, 2017

Irmo, SC (James Bowers)-The Dutch Fork Silver Foxes football team is still undefeated in region play. Coach Tom Knotts’ squad handled the Lexington Wildcats by a 29-7 count on Friday Night. Dutch Fork goes to 5-1, 3-0 on the season with the victory.

It was a sloppy football game however, with five turnovers between the two teams. Dutch Fork QB Graeson Underwood threw two interceptions, and the Foxes also suffered a lost fumble during the contest. Lexington signal caller Chase Crouch was also picked off once and the Wildcats put the ball on the ground and lost it two times.

Dutch Fork won the game with a combination of its running game and defense. RB Bryce Thompson had a stellar night, touching the football 25 times, gaining 188 yards and scoring all four DFHS touchdowns. QB Graeson Underwood struggled throwing the football, completing only 5 of his 16 passes for only 49 yards and two interceptions. WR Elijah Ngugi was DF’s leading receiver with 37 yards on two catches.

The Foxes’ defense bent a couple of times but never broke, forcing Lexington to punt the football six times. The Wildcats were only able to get on the board with 1:33 left in the game, when RB Jordan Hiller took it in from 5 yards out. LB Christian Johnson had several big plays for the Foxes defensively.

Despite the defeat, it was a solid passing night for Lexington’s Chase Crouch. The senior quarterback completed 18 of 25 passes for 161 yards. William Crouch led the way for Lexington’s receivers, making 6 grabs for 46 yards.. RB Jordan Hiller had trouble finding running room with only 86 yards for the night, but made 5 receptions for 28 yards. He also had the lone score for Perry Woolbright’s Wildcats. With tonight’s loss, Lexington slips to 5-3 overall, with a 2-2 mark in region play.

Coach Tom Knotts will hope for more offensive fireworks and fewer turnovers as he takes his Silver Foxes to Lexington for a game against an up-and-down White Knoll team. Perry Woolbright will try to right the ship next week at home against Blythewood.

The Dutch Fork, White Knoll game is slated for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff at the White Knoll Wolf’s Den at 5643 Platt Springs Rd in White Knoll (Lexington), SC. The Lexington, Blythewood game is scheduled to also begin at 7:30 p.m. at the 10901 Wilson Blvd, Blythewood, SC.
