Home damaged by fire on Kitti Wake at Shireway Thursday

Pine Grove, SC (Paul Kirby) – A double-wide mobile home was damaged by a fire Thursday afternoon. It was located at the intersection of Kitti Wake and Shireway Roads in the Pine Grove community of the county. The fire was dispatched just before 1:00 p.m.

Fire crews from the Pine Grove station were the first to arrive on the scene. They were quickly backed up by additional fire units from Oak Grove, Red Bank, Lexington, South Congaree, and other stations. An EMS crew also responded for fire safety standby and sheriff’s deputies were on the scene dealing with the traffic that had to be re-routed while the road was closed. This was necessary because of a supply hose that was stretched across Shireway road from a nearby fire hydrant.

When the first firefighters arrived, smoke was coming from the eaves of the home. The crews pulled several hoses and made an interior attack on the fire. They quickly brought it under control.

The county has not released the exact cause of the fire or any estimate on the extent of the damages to the home.
