East Point Academy holds Veterans Day assembly

November 14, 2017

West Columbia, SC - On Friday, November 10, 2017, East Point Academy held its third annual Veterans Day assembly. At 1:45 pm, scores of excited 5k-8th graders crowded into the gym to honor veterans in a special ceremony.

The program included performances by students, a slide show featuring veterans from our school community and key note speaker, EPA Head of School and US Army Veteran Mark Bounds.

"East Point Academy is proud to honor our military veterans for all the sacrifices they have made to protect our freedom. We especially celebrate the military veterans who are part of the East Point family. Our assembly not only honors our heroes, it also teaches our students important lessons about patriotism and selfless service, said Bounds.

During the ceremony, the EPA Chorus sang several patriotic songs. The highlight of the ceremony was the singing of each military service song as veterans from each branch of the military was honored.

As a follow-up of this celebration, EPA student will be visiting Dorm VA Medical Center to hand our small folded US flags to veterans.
