Capital City / Lake Murray Country plans ribbon cutting for Souvenir Shoppe

Irmo, SC (Paul Kirby) - Capital City / Lake Murray Country plans to hold a ribbon cutting for the latest addition to their offices, museum, and visitor’s center. The new Souvenir Shoppe has been completed, and they are having the official opening with the ribbon cutting on November 30th at the Lake Murray Country Visitors Center. It is located at 2184 North Lake Dr, Columbia (Irmo) just off the shoreline of “The Jewel of SC,” Lake Murray.

According to Jayne Baker, public relations manager for the tourism district, the ceremonies will begin at 10 a.m. that day, and the public is invited to attend. Baker said that the Shoppe has souvenir items available for purchase and they will make great holiday gifts. Items for sale will include Lake Murray tote bags, towels, hats, shirts, wooden barrels, locally made candles, postcards and even Christmas ornaments.

The Shoppe is just another piece of the puzzle in the total package that the team at Capital City / Lake Murray Country does in marketing Richland, Lexington, Newberry, and Saluda Counties. They let potential visitors from around the world know that not only is this a great place to live, but also wonderful areas to visit, stay, and enjoy. There are literally thousands of things to do in this area, and the CCLMC team are experts in letting people know just that.

Just last month, their new website came online. It features information about the lake and all the communities that surround it. It highlights something for everyone. No matter if you are looking for high-end lodging, or just a great campsite, you’ll find information on that at www.lakemurraycountry.com. There’s also the area’s most inclusive list of places to eat, attractions, and events. “Even if you’ve lived in the area all your life, you’ll learn something new every time you visit their website,” said James Scaffe, co-host of the popular area news program Good Morning Lexington County. “I’ve lived here for many years, and I can find something new and entertaining to do with my wife for our anniversary, or my six-year-old daughter when we just need to get out of the house. It’s really that inclusive,” Scaffe said.

Now, the new Souvenir Shoppe will be the official go-to stop for gifts and keepsakes from the area. You can stop by the Visitor’s Center, see the large aquarium in the lobby filled with fish species specific to the nearby waters of Lake Murray, stroll through the museum to learn about the history of the area, and buy something to take home that reminds you of your great visit to the area.

Everyone should mark their calendars and plan to be at the ribbon cutting. Make sure to leave a little time for shopping while you’re there also.
