West Columbia FD fights small fire in Center Street home

West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) – Firefighters from the City of West Columbia responded to a single-family home that was on fire in the 1000 block of Center Street Wednesday morning. The call came in at approximately 10:45 a.m.

When they arrived, they found smoke coming from the eaves of the home. The fire crews pulled an attack line, entered the home, and contained the fire to one room and its contents. After they extinguished the fire, they checked for extension and removed the smoke from the home. According to West Columbia’s Operations Chief Marquis Solomon, the damage to the home was minimal and mostly contained to the room that was on fire.

West Columbia received assistance from theCity of Columbia FD and the Cayce Department of Public Safety. They were dispatched under the automatic aid agreements the department’s have.
