Suspect arrested after using explosive in stalking case

November 16, 2017

Lexington, SC (November 16, 2017)  Chief Terrence Green  of the Lexington Police Department said Thursday that Robert Howard Adams, Jr., age 43, of Columbia, South Carolina has been arrested by the Lexington Police Department and charged with Stalking and the Use of a Destruction Device.

Beginning in late October, Robert Adams is believed to have been involved in stalking a victim who lives in Lexington County and who had her cable television disabled and then her vehicle tires flattened during separate incidents.

In the early morning hours of November 13, 2017, Robert Adams detonated an M-80 firecracker causing damage to the front doors at Cost Cutters located at 100 Old Cherokee Road in Lexington, South Carolina, which is the victim’s place of employment.  Evidence of the explosion with glass pieces from the door, duct tape, and the exterior packaging of the M-80 were found throughout the interior of the store.

During the investigation, Detectives were able to link Robert Adams to the damage at Cost Cutters as well as the other incidents.

On Tuesday, November 14, 2017, Robert Adams was arrested by the Lexington Police Department and charged with Stalking and the Use of a Destruction Device.

Robert Adams is currently being held at the Lexington County Detention Center with a bond of $55,000.00.  If released, Robert Adams has been court ordered to wear a monitoring device and to have no contact with the victim.
