Cayce Moose Lodge donates plush moose toys to Cayce Public Safety
Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) – Cayce Department of Public Safety’s Director Byron Snellgrove recently used their social media pages to introduce the public to the newest member of their force, Tommy Moose!! Several dozen of the Tommy Moose Dolls were donated to our department last week by the Cayce Moose Lodge #462.
“The Tommy dolls are given to children who have been encountered during stressful or traumatic situations, calming them, and giving them a soothing object to refocus their attention toward, while emergency aid takes place,” Snellgrove said during the presentation of the plush toys. If a child is involved in a vehicle accident, a fire, or someone in their home has a negative encounter with law enforcement, the dolls can be used to calm them and provide them with comfort.
During the small ceremony where the dolls were presented, a representative of the Cayce Moose Lodge said, "The Moose organization contributes between $75 to $100 million worth of community service (counting monetary donations, volunteer hours worked, and miles driven) annually." Donating the Tommy Moose dolls to fire and police departments are just a small part of how they give back to the community.
