Lexington businesses show continued support for Toy-For-Tots campaign

Lexington, S.C. (November 29, 2017) – The Lexington Police Department annual Toys for Tots “Fill the MRAP” campaign continues with both new and continued support from several Town of Lexington restaurants and businesses as collection locations, giving discounts for those who donate a toy, and collecting monetary donations in hopes to purchase more toys for children in need this Christmas.

On Thursday, November 30, 2017, Mellow Mushroom, which is located at 5364 Sunset Blvd. in Lexington, will host a Toys for Tots Pizza Night Benefit and will donate 10% of all proceeds from the event to purchase additional toys. The Lexington Police Department will be collecting toys for those who wish to donate during the event and Santa Craig is also planning on making an appearance. The Toys for Tots Pizza Night Benefit will begin at 5:00 p.m. and end at 9:00 p.m. Additional information can be found on the Facebook event page.

Also, now through December 10, 2017, Mellow Mushroom will discount your total bill by 10% for a toy donated in the Toys for Tots collection box within the restaurant.

On Saturday, December 2, 2017, Menchie’s, which is located at 5580 Sunset Blvd. in Lexington, will host the second annual Toys For Tots Christmas Karaoke event and will donate 10% of all proceeds during that afternoon to purchase additional toys. Frederick Hogsett, aka “DJ Smooth”, will have the Christmas karaoke hits ready and Menchie’s will be giving away coupons for free frozen yogurt for each toy donated. Santa Craig is planning on making an appearance that afternoon. This event will begin at 1:00 p.m. and end at 5:00 p.m. Additional information can be found on the Facebook event page.

Now through December 10, 2017, Poke Bros, which is located at 5225 Sunset Blvd. in Lexington, is a Toys for Tots collection location and will give a 10% discount for a toy donated. Poke Bros. is also taking monetary donations which will be used to purchase additional toys.

Along with the scheduled Toys for Tots “Fill the MRAP” events planned at Kmart, Target and Walmart now through December 11, 2017, Petsmart and Kay Jewelers on Sunset Blvd. in Lexington are both selling stuffed animals which will be donated at the end of the campaign. Over 1,000 stuffed animals are typically given to Toys for Tots from these two stores during the Christmas season.
