Lexington man dies in vehicle crash Friday morning
Round Hill, SC (Paul Kirby) A Lexington man was killed Friday morning in a vehicle crash that happened during the morning commute. The accident happened in the 1100 block of Calks Ferry Road.
Fire, EMS crews, and law enforcement officers were dispatched to the call at approximately 7:00 a.m. The call was dispatched as a vehicle accident that had trapped someone in the wreckage. Firefighters blocked the road because of the wreck until law enforcement arrived on the scene. The EMS crew treated the driver of the other vehicle who had been injured by the crash.
Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died as a result of that vehicle collision as Ronnie M. Prioleau, Jr., 33, of Lexington. He was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries that he sustained in the collision.
According to the coroner’s office, Prioleau was travelling west when he apparently crossed the center line and struck an oncoming vehicle. Prioleau was not wearing a seatbelt when the incident occurred. The other driver, who was also not wearing a seatbelt, was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
