Coroner’s office identifies the victim of Sunday morning's homicide near Cayce

December 18, 2017

Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) – On Sunday afternoon, Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified the victim of a fatal shooting that took place in the early morning hours of Sunday, December 17, 2017. The homicide happened at the City Nightzbar in the 2100 block of Old Dunbar Road just outside the city of Cayce.

According to Coroner Fisher, Mr. Rodney T. Leak, 41, of Columbia was pronounced dead at the scene due to a gunshot wound he sustained at the club there on Old Dunbar. The shooting apparently happened at about 2:20 a.m., shortly after the nightclub had closed for that night.

Although the club is located close to Cayce, it is actually in the un-incorporated portion of Lexington County. Investigators with the Major Crimes division of the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department are heading up the investigation.

If anyone has any information regarding this murder, they are asked to call Midlands Crime Stoppers at 1-888 CRIME SC(274672).
