Investigators think Irmo home invasion was no random act

December 30, 2017

Irmo, SC (Paul Kirby) – Sheriff’s investigators who are on the scene of a home invasion that occurred  Saturday morning, are now saying they don’t think that the house was simply chosen from the many homes that line Mapleview Drive near the town of Irmo. A spokesman for the department said, “We don’t have any reason to believe this was a random act.”

The spokesman said via the department’s social media accounts that several people were assaulted inside the home prior to the arrival of deputies. A deputy discharged his firearm multiple times after he encountered a suspect on the second story of the home who pointed a rifle at the LCSD responder. No one was hit during the gunfire.

The sheriff’s department is investigating the home invasion, and they have promised to update as their investigation unfolds. SLED is on the scene investigating the deputy involved shooting.
