South Congaree Police Department investigating an alleged home invasion

South Congaree, SC (Paul Kirby) – The South Congaree Police Department is investigating an alleged home invasion at the corner of Pine Street and Ramblin Road. This incident supposedly occurred Thursday afternoon just after the students were released from the school that’s across the street.

According to Police Chief Josh Shumpert, he requested K-9‘s from the county after a woman said that two men entered her home and threatened her. The dogs were used in the area of the home where the men were supposed to have entered, but they found no trail to track. A crime scene unit is on the scene right now to see if there’s any evidence to recover.

Chief Shumpert said that their investigation into the allegations continues, but he doesn’t believe that there is any danger to the public at this time. He said that he appreciates the assistance he received from Pine Ridge PD, the sheriff’s department, and any other agency that assisted during the early stages of the investigation. He has promised updates as they develop.
