State Street Trading Company features art, antiques, and more
West Columbia, SC (Jimmy Poluszek) - State Street Trading Company opened its doors to the public for the first-time last night, Friday, February 2nd. Owned and operated by Lainie Lewis, this business sells art, jewelry, antiques, and other unique gifts to anybody interested in the finer things in life. A ribbon cutting was held in honor of the store's opening and saw a wide cast of visitors including several city council members from the city of West Columbia. It was arranged by the CWC Chamber of Commerce.
Lainie Lewis herself has a background in curated art galleries back in South Florida where she lived before moving here. She picks out all the art that she has on sale herself, ensuring atop-quality inventory and a personal commitment to the craft. Regarding why she decided to go from managing art galleries to selling art, Lewis said, “I came up (moved to SC) to be a grandma, but I was bored, so I needed something to do.” She also has a background in interior design and can help you find just what you’re looking for when it comes to decorating your home or business with art.
Each month, a new artist will be brought in to State Street Trading Company and add to the possible selection Lewis has available for sale. This month it is was Kathy Oda who crafts very fine kiln-formed glass pieces. Some of them are only for show, but others that can serve as beautiful bowls and trays are available for sale.
