South Congaree, SC (Paul Kirby) – More than a year ago, The Ledger ran a story about a 24/7 Fitness Center coming to the small plaza near the Food Lion in South Congaree. For those of you that aren’t real familiar with the area, this is the old movie rental store behind the Burger King and Pitt Stop at the intersection of Pine and Main Streets.
When that story was written, the management of the company said that they hoped to have the center opened by the winter of 2016. As anyone knows who goes by that plaza daily, that didn’t happen. Finally, in late 2017, work began to not only renovate the building slated to be the fitness center, but the entire plaza began getting a face-lift. Excitement with the fitness buffs in the area built as the work began. Now, we are into the winter of 2018, and although the whole building looks much better with a new facade, signage, and a fresh coat of paint, no opening date for the 24/7 has been set. This is according to the management of the company that we contacted last week by telephone.
According to their website, 24/7 Health & Fitness Centers are committed to helping their members achieve the goals that they have set for themselves. Whether your aim is to lose weight, tone up, or simply maintain your present fitness level, they have the resources to help you do it. They say they also have the experience and knowledge to educate you in all facets of health and fitness. These centers are open to members 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Thus, the name 24/7 Health & Fitness Centers.
A quick ride by the building showed that work on the heat and air systems is underway, and the space is filled with cardboard boxes that contain something; what is anyone’s guess. As soon as the fitness equipment begins to be unpacked, we will contact the company again to see if the can provide a more definitive opening date. When that will be is anyone’s guess!
