Harbison Theatre to screen Sabrina on February 10 in continuation of Valentine’s Cinema event
Attendees at Saturday show will also be treated to dessert before screening
Irmo, SC (James Bowers) - Area couples looking for ideas for a date night for Valentine’s Day, could get a jump on the event this Saturday by taking your special someone to the Valentine’s Day Cinema event at the Harbison Theatre in Irmo. Not only will they have a chance to see the classic Audrey Hepburn film Sabrina, but can enjoy a glass of wine and dessert before the show. The holiday celebration will get underway at 7 p.m., with the Sabrina showing starting at 8 p.m.
The 1954 romantic comedy stars the iconic Audrey Hepburn as Sabrina Fairchild, a chauffeur’s daughter who has un-reciprocated feelings for David Larrabee (played by William Holden), a family friend. After she returns from a trip to Paris, she becomes a glamorous woman who finds David suddenly notices her, the reaction she had always desired. When David’s older brother Linus (played by Humphrey Bogart) tries to stop the fling, he creates a love triangle by also falling for her.
Sabrina was based on the 1953 play Sabrina Fair, and is regarded as a classic work in the genre of romantic comedy. The film inspired a 1995 remake of the same name, which starred Julia Ormond, Greg Kinnear, and Harrison Ford.
Though the Valentine’s Cinema event has been a part of the Harbison Theatre Calendar since the venue opened in 2012, the pre-screening party is a new event for this year. In addition to the food and beverages on hand, there will also be a photo booth for couples to take a snapshot of their evening out.
Tickets for the Valentine’s Cinema showing of Sabrina are $17 and can be purchased three ways, by visiting harbisiontheatre.org/tickets-productions, calling (803) 407-5011, or by visiting the Harbison Theatre Box Office. It’s open Monday-Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., or you can get them two hours prior to the screening. Harbison Theatre is located at 2300 College Street in Irmo.
