Serious crash on West Dunbar Rd. near Southland cemetery early Saturday

February 24, 2018

South Congaree, SC (Paul Kirby) – A serious crash occurred on West Dunbar Road near Southland Memorial Gardens very early Saturday morning. The crash was reported around 3:30 a.m. bringing EMS, firefighters, and law enforcement officers to the scene. The cross street given responding rescuers was Cedarlane Parkway, a road that leads into a quiet, older subdivision in that area. West Dunbar Road has a long, sweeping curve in the area right in front of Southland Memorial Gardens. It has seen many serious crashes in the past.

No agency has yet reported if someone died in the wreck but first arriving units did say that they encountered at least one who appeared gravely injured. The status of that person or the exact number of injured is not known at this time.

The SCHP will investigate the cause of the collision and the coroner’s office would deal with the family of any victim if they succumb to injuries in the collision.  We will continue to update this story as more information is released.
