Collision involving truck and cars shuts down Fairview Road Tuesday morning
Fairview, SC (Paul Kirby) – A collision involving a tractor trailer truck and several cars shutdown a part of Fairview Road near Cedar Grove Road Tuesday morning. The first calls regarding the accident came in between 7:00 and 7:30 a.m., shortly after the vehicles collided. Firefighters from the county’s nearby Fairview fire station were quickly on the scene and began checking for injuries of the people involved in the accident. They immediately requested the assistance of another truck from Pelion.
The county firefighters requested law enforcement officers to respond quickly because the roadway was blocked and traffic began to back-up. They also requested haz-mat equipment to help them deal with fuel spilling from one of the vehicles. There was also another accident reported a bit further down Fairview Road near the intersection with Convent Church. According to a Ledger follower, several young men helped a man get out of a service truck by breaking its window when the doors to that vehicle wouldn’t open.
Law enforcement officers and fire service personnel were on the scene until after 10: 00 a.m. helping to clear the damaged vehicles from the road. The SCHP has not yet said who will be at fault in the accidents.
