Pelion, SC (Paul Kirby) – A mobile home on Pat Road near Thor Rd. was destroyed by fire Tuesday night. The fire was reported just before 7:00 p.m. to Lexington County’s 911 center. Firefighters that responded to the call were told that the homeowner was standing on the roof of the burning home screaming, but the first unit to arrive was a supervisor from EMS, and he told the firefighters that everyone was safe and clear of the burning house. The supervisor reported fire was coming through the roof and smoke was pushing out of all sides of the double-wide.
Firefighters arrived on the scene quickly and began to attack the fire. As more arrived, they pulled additional hoses and quickly began to knock the fire down. Tanker trucks were utilized to shuttle water to the fire from a supply point some distance away. It took the firefighters about an hour to completely put the fire out. They went back to check on the blaze later in the night to ensure it didn’t rekindle.
Lexington County officials haven’t said exactly what caused the fire. They also haven’t said anyone was injured as a result of the fire. The home was deemed a total loss as a result of the blaze.
