Gardners Terrace Road assault victim remains in critical condition as sheriff’s detectives continuin

West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) Investigators with the LCSD say they are continuing their investigation into an assault that left a young man in critical condition at a local hospital after he was injured during some sort of altercation last Friday evening. According to the sheriff’s department, the incident took place in the 500 block of Gardners Terrace Road near where it intersects with Gillins Terrace Road.

A great deal of controversy and speculation has been making the rounds through the community and on social media regarding this case. At one point, a public video was circulating on Facebook that was said to be of the injured man physically assaulting someone else prior to the attack that left him gravely injured. On Monday afternoon, that video was no longer publicly available on the Facebook account where it was posted.

Family and friends of the injured man have said that he is in a coma at Palmetto Richland, the hospital where he was treated in the trauma center after being transported by Lexington County EMS, and his family members and friends are simply praying that he will recover after they say he was struck with a metal object in the head during an assault.

When asked Monday for an update on the case Monday, Colby Gallagher, a spokesperson for the sheriff said they have no further information they are at liberty to release at this time. Their investigation is ongoing, and they have given us no indication that an arrest has been made regarding the assault at this point.
