“COPS ON THE COOP” with CHICK-FIL-A to benefit SPECIAL OLYMPICS

Lexington, SC (April 17, 2018) – The Lexington Police Department will begin fundraising efforts to benefit Special Olympics athletics with two days of “Cops on the Coop” events at both Chick-fil-A restaurant locations in the Town of Lexington on Wednesday, April 18 and Thursday, April 19, 2018.

Lexington Police Department officers, with help from Volunteers In Police Services (V.I.P.S.) members, will be at Chick-fil-A Lexington located at 5560 Sunset Blvd. in Lexington from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Chick-fil-A Saluda Pointe which is located at 4295 Sunset Blvd. in Lexington from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. each day of the “Cops on the Coop” events.

Officers and V.I.P.S. will be collecting donations of cash, check or credit card at restaurant entrances and in the drive thru lane area as well. Chick-fil-A will be giving away complimentary treat or sandwich cards to use at a later visit and there will be Special Olympics apparel and other items given away depending on the donation given.

All money donated will be given to the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics to directly support the over 25,000 Special Olympics athletes in South Carolina.

Chief Terrence Green said, “The Lexington Police Department has had a longstanding relationship with Special Olympics South Carolina and the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. This year our goal is to raise $25,000 to benefit Special Olympics athletes in South Carolina and I hope that the Town of Lexington community will come out and help support this great cause.”
