April 19, 2018

South Congaree, SC (Gail Fallaw) – South Congaree Town Clerk Pat Shull said about 25 people attended the meeting of the South Congaree Town Council Tuesday evening to witness Brian Jackson, Bob Porter, and Roger Spires take the oath of office to serve the community in the coming years on the council. Jackson and Porter were administered the oath of office by Retired LTC Army Chaplain Jerry Henderson. Porter’s wife, Dr. Jennifer Porter, was by his side during the ceremony.  Roger Spires was administered the oath by his daughter, Christy Todd, while his wife, Kitty Spires held the bible.  Spires' daughter Brooke Spires was also present for the ceremony.

Jackson and Porter were each elected to four-year terms, while Spires was elected to a two-year term to fill the seat held previously by Jean Wilson. Wilson resigned due to personal and health reasons in late 2017.
