Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) – A person who was apparently initially shot in the county eventually ended up at the Pilot Truck Stop on Charleston Highway in the city of Cayce before seeking help. The other occupants of the car notified police, fire, and EMS after pulling up at the station that’s open 24/7 with the injured person in their car. Cayce’s Department of Public Safety received the call early Monday morning sending units racing to the truck stop for reports of the shooting. Multiple officers quickly arrived on the scene and began to take charge of the car and its occupants while EMS and fire personnel began to treat the person who was injured.
After Cayce officers made sure that the scene was safe, they learned through their initial interviews that the shooting had apparently happened in Lexington County. The occupants of the car initially said that person who was shot had been the passenger in the car that was on a dirt road in the Gaston area when someone in another vehicle shot into it, striking the person in the back seat. County deputies were notified and began to arrive on scene. Because the shooting took place outside the city, county investigators were notified, and the situation was turned over to them. At this time, Lexington County hasn’t released any further information about the incident.
