Woodcreek neighborhood to help show appreciation to law enforcement officers
Lexington, SC (Hazel Livingston) The Woodcreek neighborhood is a community that’s proud to help Lexington celebrate their law enforcement community. In 2016, following the murder of five police officers in Texas, Woodcreek held an “Appreciation Day" to let their community peace officers know how much they value and appreciate their service. The event was a huge success even though it was put together in only three days.
On Wednesday, May 9th, the neighbors will again come together to host a luncheon for law enforcement following the Law Enforcement Officer’s memorial service that is held in downtown Lexington. A food station will be set up at 229 Stoneridge Drive for Town of Lexington police officers, Lexington County Sheriff's Department deputies, South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers, State Law Enforcement Division agents, and other members of the law enforcement community. The neighbors will also prepare and distribute 150 appreciation bags with items to keep in their service vehicles.
That evening, some of the community’s officers will return to Woodcreek to join the neighborhood children in a Wheels Parade and neighborhood party. Kids will be encouraged to decorate their bikes, trikes, and wagons and ride to celebrate law enforcement. The parade will start at the corner of Stoneridge and Carola at 6:00 PM and end at the Water Crest cul-de-sac where the community will serve up hot dogs and have activities for kids and families.
Woodcreek is located just inside the Lexington Town Limits on US 1 west of I-20 (Exit 58). If you’d like to help with the Woodcreek’s Law Enforcement Appreciation activities, please contact Hazel Livingston at (803) 463-6575 or by e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
