One in grave condition after vehicle versus pedestrian accident in West Columbia

May 4, 2018

West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) The West Columbia Police Department is on the scene of a vehicle versus pedestrian accident that has left one person with injuries that are being described as “grave.” According to Assistant Chief Scott Morrison, the accident happened in the 3100 block of Augusta Road. This would be near the intersection of Methodist Park Road and Delree Street West of I-26. Morrison said that the individual who was struck was transported to an area hospital, but they have been told that the prognosis is not a good one.

Morrison said that he had no details regarding the accident to report at 5:30 a.m. Friday. Most of his on-duty shift is dealing with the wreck and officers from both Cayce and Springdale are assisting by handling other calls in the city. Commuters should expect traffic delays in the area Friday morning. We will update this story as the police release more details.
